Peels work by removing the most superficial layers of skin. That is, they injure the skin in a controlled manner so that it regenerates and improves its characteristics: appearance, texture, softness, color, tone… That is, we are going to cause a renewal of the skin so that it looks much more beautiful and softer.
Does the skin have to be prepared for the treatment?
The treatment is performed in consultation and, depending on the type of peeling required, prior preparation with a cream may be necessary at the patient’s home a few days before.
Are there different types of peels?
The most frequently used peels are those that serve to give luminosity to the skin, perfect for celebrations and events. There are others that are used to eliminate small pigmentations or spots or to reduce the effect that acne produces on the skin. More mature skin can also benefit from peels that partially repair it and improve its irregularities and wrinkles. Some peels require several sessions while others only one.
Do all peels peel the skin?
Each peel has specific components and not all of them “peel.” Those that do produce an effect similar to a burn from not using sunscreen: first the skin peels off and new reddened skin remains underneath, replacing the old one.
Is a post-peeling treatment necessary?
Whenever you have a peel, it is necessary to protect the new skin from the sun with creams with a protection factor of 50. In addition, certain peels produce an initial sensation of tightness that will require plenty of moisturizing cream. Therefore, it is advisable not to have activities on the beach or mountains after a peel.
